HYGIENE & ETTIQUETTE

About

To keep people safe and healthy on and off the mats, we have a few general club etiquette and hygiene rules that we ask members to abide by. In order to make sure Low Tide studios are clean, we vacuum and wash down the mats and floors before and after every class. However, it is a team effort to make sure our members stay healthy. Please read through these below.

HYGIENE

  • Please wash your hands and feet before class begins and after class ends!

  • Make sure your fingernails and toenails are short.

  • No shoes can be worn in the main studio or on the mats. Please use sliders when going to and from the mats. We have sliders you can use to enter the kitchen and bathrooms/shower.

  • Please only use a clean Gi and rashguard for class.

  • Please remove all jewellery before class begins.

  • Cover open cuts or grazes.

  • Long hair must be tied back.

ETTIQUETTE

  • Take care of your training partners. Be mindful and considerate of any limitations or injuries they have
    – if unsure, just ask!

  • Do not attend class if you are sick. Rest up and return when you are symptom-free.

  • Show up on time for class. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you may not be allowed to train.

  • Please use the Low Tide app to sign in for BJJ classes, this is so we can keep class attendance at a safe size and it helps with lesson planning.

  • We do not tolerate foul/abusive language at the club. Please respect all members and staff.

  • We do not enforce bowing on and off the mats. But if you wish to you are very welcome to.

  • You can wear whatever BJJ Gi you like. We do not insist you buy a club branded one. Though they do look great!
