Both a martial art and combat sport, BJJ is our primary passion and specialty here at Low Tide Studio. We firmly believe that BJJ is for everyone, so we pride ourselves on our fun, friendly and inclusive approach to delivering our classes. We teach both Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, from their fundamental and core movements to their ever-growing array of complex techniques and submissions. Led by second degree black belt and gym owner, Si Tutton, Low Tide BJJ has quickly become one of Edinburgh's leading martial arts and fitness studios.

ADULTS ATTENDEES ONLY (16+)

SPORTS & SELF-DEFENCE FOCUSED

ALL CLASSES CONDUCTED IN THE GI

INCLUDES OPTIONAL RESTRICTED SPARRING

This programme delivers our essential BJJ curriculum. It consists of 20 beginner-friendly classes that cover the most important positions, principles, and submissions in both sports and self-defence BJJ.

All beginners must attend these classes to earn their first stripe before the option of moving on to Total BJJ which includes full sparring.

TOTAL BJJ

After attaining your first stripe at white belt, you are free to attend mixed level Total BJJ classes. Total BJJ represents the full game of BJJ, including the option of participating in full sparring  (otherwise known as 'rolling'). As you gain more stripes and experience, you will gain access to the more advanced classes. However, this does not mean you have to stop attending Core BJJ. Having a strong core is important and we recommend all practitioners keep refreshing their fundamentals.

Our Mixed Levels classes are for members who have completed our Core BJJ programme and earned a first stripe on their white belt. This means our coaching staff have deemed them safe and knowledgable enough to attend classes that include the option of full sparring and follow a broader monthly-themed curriculum. We also welcome new members to attend these classes who have the equivalent and appropriate level of experience earned elsewhere. This will be decided at our discretion.

Our Intermediate Total BJJ classes are reserved for members who have a significant amount of experience in BJJ and have earned a minimum of three stripes on their white belt or, for No-Gi, have the equivalent level of experience, which will be decided at our discretion. Also following a monthly theme, these classes include more advanced techniques and positions with the option of full sparring in every class.

Take a look at our 'Roadmap' that displays a general pathway beginners will follow at Low Tide.

Once you are able to attend Total BJJ, you can still attend any Intro or Core class too!
